²⁵ Their brethren who lived in the villages would come up to join them for a period of seven days from time to time.

²⁶ There were four Levites who held the office of chief gatekeepers. They were responsible for the chambers and the treasuries of the temple of the Lord. ²⁷ They would spend the night stationed around the temple of God because they were responsible for it, and then they would open it each morning.
